We provided a £500 cash boost to West View Project in Hartlepool to help towards its community initiative in Wynyard.

The organisation, which currently hosts a number of outdoor learning initiatives across the region, has used the donation to pay for books, new hammocks and Gruffalo teddies for their younger members who they currently provide Gruffalo Adventures for; in line with the popular children’s book.

Claire Hodgson, youth worker at West View Project, comments: “Outdoor learning is an extremely important part of what we do – and our Gruffalo Adventures have been so successful that they have now become a part of the national curriculum within schools.

“We work with the vast majority of schools in the region and do play schemes during the holidays for families, many of which take place at the forest neighbouring Taylor Wimpey’s Wynyard Manor development, so it’s great to have their support.

“I would like to thank Taylor Wimpey for their generous donation – it will go a long way.”

West View Project was set up in 1980 by a group of local residents who wanted to create somewhere that children in the region could play safely.

Debbie Whittingham, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, comments: “West View Project’s entire ethos is amazing – and we completely agree with them that being outdoors brings a whole new perspective to learning.

“The organisation’s Gruffalo Adventures actually take place right by Wynyard Manor, something which will no doubt be attracting many of our younger residents in due course.”

Wynyard Manor currently features a range of four and five-bedroom homes.
