A ground-breaking event was hosted at our Greenacres development in Stotfold to mark the start of construction work on a brand new community hall.
The hall is being built by Ashe Construction on behalf of us and Persimmon Homes as we work in consortium to deliver high-quality homes at the site off Hitchin Road.
The Mayor of Stotfold, Cllr Alan Cooper, and ward member for Stotfold and Langford at Central Bedfordshire Council, Cllr Brian Saunders, were both guests of honour at the ceremony which took place on Monday 14th September.
Cllr Brian Saunders says: “I was delighted to be able to attend the special ceremony. The community hall will be an excellent new facility for local residents and I look forward to seeing its progress as building work begins.”
The event, which was also attended by representatives from Taylor Wimpey, Persimmon Homes and Ashe Construction, included a few words from the Mayor of Stotfold before an engraved ceremonial spade was presented to Stotfold Town Council.
Ashe Construction’s Director Martin Petts says: “We are proud to be involved in yet another local project where we will use local labour to deliver another fantastic facility for the community in conjunction with our clients Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon.”
The community hall will be the new home to Stotfold Town Council, and will also be available for hire by the public. The facility will boast a main hall that would be suitable for fitness classes and community groups alike, plus a meeting room and catering facilities too.
Speaking on behalf of the consortium, Colin Radford, Technical Director for Taylor Wimpey South Midlands, says: “We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Stotfold and Cllr Brian Saunders to our Greenacres development to celebrate the start of construction of the new community hall.
“This fantastic facility will be a brilliant addition at Greenacres, which is shaping up to be a wonderful new neighbourhood in Stotfold that’s full of community spirit.”
