A talented young equestrian team from the Newton Abbot area has been given a boost by us.
Our Exeter business unit, which is building new homes at Hele Park on the edge of Newton Abbot, has sponsored Stover School’s equestrian team.
The independent school will now have the Taylor Wimpey logo on their riding tops and over-jackets.
“The Taylor Wimpey sponsorship is really appreciated,” says Elaine Machin, the teacher in charge of the school’s equestrian team.
“Horse riding is an expensive sport, and being able to purchase our own school kit makes a huge difference to us.”
Clare Brimble, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Exeter, says: “As a housebuilder working in Newton Abbot, we are delighted to support a local school by contributing to their equestrian team.
“We would like to wish the talented riders of Stover School every success in both school competitions and in their individual careers.”
Stover School is a leading independent school north-west of Newton Abbot, set in grounds of around 64 acres.
It is a mixed school with more than 320 pupils, aged from three to 18. About 70 of the pupils are boarders.
Elaine Machin, who is director of ICT at the school, is also a keen horsewoman, and has reinvigorated the school’s equestrian team in the last few years.
“The attraction of riding is, I suppose, the same as any other team sport,” she explains. “It encourages you to compete and improve, and there’s quite a lot of prestige in being part of a school team.”
She added that she was also hoping to create a ‘jump cross’ riding course within the school’s grounds.
There’s a superb selection of three and four-bedroom homes currently available at Hele Park.
