Youngsters playing for a junior football team in Somerset are looking forward to kicking-off their most challenging season to date in style – thanks to a donation from our team in Bristol.
The £500 gift has been provided to the Chilcompton Sports U10s team, and the money has been spent towards a brand new yellow-and-green home kit for when the young players lined-up for their season on 6th September 2015.
It promises to be the side’s most challenging campaign to date as the youngsters have recently made a move into the Bristol Hanham League for the 2015/16 season. The Hanham League has 55 teams in the U10s age group and gives children a chance to play matches more regularly.
Team manager Neil Button says the donation – made in association with our Belvedere Place development, which is less than a mile from the club’s Chilcompton ground – will give the youngsters a big boost at the start of their season.
“We’re really grateful to Taylor Wimpey for their kind donation, which has helped towards the cost of providing new shirts for the full squad of 25 youngsters for our U10s team,” says Neil, whose nine-year-old son Finley is amongst the children that play for the team and who attend Chilcompton School.
“The players are really going to look the part with their new kit – and I’m sure it will give them added confidence going into their opening games. I’d like to thank Taylor Wimpey and also Darren Clarke for his efforts in obtaining our team shirt sponsorship.
“Taylor Wimpey is building new homes just down the road at Belvedere Place and it’s great that they are willing to invest in both the local community and in grassroots football.
“I think there will be more allegiance with the club as their development is built, we are very pleased with their support”
The team has grown together since they were at soccer-tots, which they started at the age of five, and two of their players have recently signed academy contracts with Premier League football outfit Southampton F.C.
Charlie Joseph, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Bristol, says: “We’re always willing to do what we can to support our local communities, and we were only too happy to help Neil and the Chilcompton Sports U10s when we were approached about making a donation.
“Belvedere Place is a real family-friendly development, so hopefully we’ll see some of our own young future residents join the team in the years to come.”
There’s a superb selection of three and four-bedroom homes currently available at Belvedere Place.
