Budding footballers in Borehamwood will certainly look the part this season after we struck up a sponsorship deal with their club.
We donated £500 to Borehamwood Youth Football Club, which is near to our Gemini Park development that’s coming soon.
The deal was secured by Mike Arthur, manager of the club’s under-7s Knights team, and means the youngsters are now kitted out with smart new shirts and jackets.
Club secretary, Lorraine Clements, says: “We have a total of 14 teams, ranging from the under-7s to under-16s and providing kit for each player can be a very expensive business, so Taylor Wimpey’s sponsorship makes a massive difference.
“It also means we can divert more funds to a major drainage programme to stop our pitches flooding. We’ve applied for grants totalling £150,000 from Sport England and the National Sports Foundation for the project, and need to raise the remaining £15,000 ourselves.”
Christine Scarborough, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey North Thames, says: “When we heard the Knights were in desperate need of a new strip we were very keen to help them out.
“The club makes a valuable contribution to community life for so many local youngsters, and has trained thousands of children from the area over the years, which makes it exactly the sort of organisation that we are only too happy to support.”
Formed in 1976, Borehamwood Youth Football Club runs teams for both boys and girls, with home games played at its Cass Park ground in Aycliffe Road.
