“We reached a point where financially it made sense to buy our own home, and we’ve been living at Lysaght Village since November 2015.

“We rented the ‘Wessex’ and decided to buy the same housetype because it suited our purpose perfectly – we don’t have any children so it’s not too big for just the two of us, but it’s got enough space for when we do decide to have a family.

“A new‑build home really appealed to us as you can move straight in and everything’s done for you – and admittedly I’m also not very good at DIY!

“We’ve heard horror stories in the past from other people who have bought older houses, whereas with a new home you have peace of mind from the Taylor Wimpey warranty and NHBC guarantee.

“The Help to Buy Wales initiative worked really well for us and everything was taken care of by Taylor Wimpey, so it was really easy and straightforward. Without this scheme we’d have definitely been renting for a lot longer.

“We have friends and family living at Lysaght Village so it’s an ideal location for us. We both work for Newport City Council so it’s convenient for us to get to work and this is where I grew up so I know the area well.

“We’re close to Newport city centre and there are good commuter links nearby with the M4. There’s also a big retail park just down the road which has all the shops and supermarkets you need, plus the sports village is nearby which has a gym and a swimming pool.

“Buying a home with Taylor Wimpey has been a positive experience and if we’ve had any minor issues then the team have been quick to sort it out for us – everyone has been really helpful.”
