"The people I was sharing a house with were going their separate ways and I was unsure about what to do so I started doing a bit of research into the rental market, and the soaring prices of shared accommodation shocked me.
"I didn’t want to spend so much money on my basic living costs – cash that was ultimately going straight into a landlords’ back pocket.
"Then I found out about Scholars Court, where I could afford to buy my own home with only a 5% deposit, with Taylor Wimpey’s help.
"I was even more surprised to learn that my mortgage repayments would work out cheaper than renting a similar property. Suddenly, my decision seemed a lot easier to make!
"My new apartment is huge – everyone who visits is amazed by its dimensions. It’s got a light and airy living room that opens out to an attractive balcony, which I think is a lovely feature.
"By purchasing my apartment off-plan, I was able to choose many of its finishing touches from Taylor Wimpey’s range of interior Options. So it felt like I really was moving into my new home – as opposed to someone else’s old place.
"As a new-build development, all the properties at Scholars Court are energy efficient, which keeps the bills down. There’s even a solar panel on the roof to help heat the water.
"And because the nearby Crystal Palace London Overground station is in Zone 3, my weekly travel expenses have remained reasonable.
"I’ve been living at Scholars Court for about six weeks – I’m so pleased with how well everything is going. Being a property owner feels right to me, and it’s largely thanks to the help that Taylor Wimpey provided.”
