A market town location and superb local schools, as well as a choice of great family homes were key deciding factors for the Nicolson family when they chose to make West Scotland’s Avondale Gardens in Strathaven their new home.

Avondale Gardens is a development that has ticked all the rights boxes for this young family. Dad of two, Craig Nicolson, explains further: “Having two boys meant that we were outgrowing our three bedroom detached house in Glassford quickly. Before the boys reached school age we wanted to make the move to a family home where we knew the local schooling would be fantastic right from primary through to their secondary years, and where we knew that we’d have room to grow.”

The family fell in love with the location of the development - and one house in particular. Mum, Ella Nicolson, said: “We really liked the countryside setting of Avondale Gardens and we loved the layout of the Geddes four bedroom detached house.

“The kitchen is large enough for us to be able to dine in and we could see the potential of the integral garage which we’ve already converted into more living space. Upstairs there are four really good-sized bedrooms, and the Jack/Jill en suite between bedrooms two and three make these perfect for the boys now and even more so as they get older.”

The family found that using the Part Exchange scheme meant their move to a new home was very easy. Craig said: “To be honest there wasn’t too much choice in the second hand market so we decided to have a look at each of the new-build developments in Strathaven.  I thought that I’d really struggle to find anything that we both like but I was wrong. We literally loved the homes offered by Taylor Wimpey and we found our dream spot on the development which has lots of outdoor space which is ideal for us as we like to BBQ a lot.

“We were offered the full home report value for our house, we were never rushed, and we even had a whole weekend to move out as there was no immediate need for our keys.  It just made everything really easy and I would definitely recommend using part exchange to others.”

Seeing Avondale Gardens in Strathaven come to life as the first customers move in marks a key time for the development. Audrey Ross, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland said: “Avondale Gardens offers buyers the balance of picturesque and countryside living with the convenience of excellent transport links and impressive local amenities, and it’s great to see it become home to families just like Ella and Craig and their boys.”
