“We had a caravan in Clacton for years when I was a child and when my parents recently retired, they were looking to buy a place here. They came and looked at the Taylor Wimpey development, picked out their plot and decided to go for it.
“We had been living in a three-bedroom house in Canvey Island with three children – we were getting on top of each other. We were stuck in a rut, my husband works away a lot and I wasn’t happy in my job. I knew we needed a fresh start.
“I thought it would be nice to have my parents close by and when they told me about the Help to Buy scheme and how it could work for us, we made the decision to put our house on the market.
“It’s so hard to move up the property ladder and we would never have been able to afford to buy our house if it wasn’t for Help to Buy. We did have some equity in our old place, which gave us the deposit we needed, but Help to Buy made the move a reality.
“Caroline, the Sales Executive, was fantastic. She also handled my mum and dad’s sale, and right from the beginning she was rooting for us to get the house we wanted. She was so helpful.
“I’m really pleased with the house and it’s nice that the kids now each have their own room. We’ve started to get to know our neighbours and everyone seems really friendly. A lot of them are new to the area, too, so we’re all in the same boat. I’m looking forward to the summer when we can invite everyone round for barbecues.
“This has been a completely fresh start for us all and we’re really happy we made the move.”
