After 14 years together, when Steven Robertson and Martin Gray decided the time was right to move in together, they didn’t hang around before choosing to move to Taylor Wimpey at Almond Park in Musselburgh.

The couple discovered the development while they were on a drive around East Lothian looking for their dream location.  Following a visit to the show homes, where they felt right at home in the Andrew two bedroom semi-detached, and a chat with Taylor Wimpey’s friendly sales executives Jacquie and Kayla, the couple quickly secured their first property.

Steven Robertson, who works for Healthcare Improvement Scotland, explains: “We’ve been together for years and it just felt like the right time to get ourselves on the property ladder.  Although it can sometimes take us a long time to make a decision, once it’s made we move fast.  Our initial plan was to buy a property in Portobello and while driving around the East Lothian area, we saw the signs for Taylor Wimpey in Musselburgh and decided to check them out.  I had also seen a couple of posts on Facebook, so Martin and I thought we had nothing to lose by popping into the sales office.

“We met Jacquie and Kayla, who are just lovely, and they talked us through our options.  We found out about the few homes Taylor Wimpey had left on this particular phase, which included the Andrew two bedroom semi-detached, and we had the chance to look around the show home and just loved it.

“By chance, we were able to buy a similar style house because, sadly, someone else had to pull out, so we happened to be in the right place and the right time.”

The team at Taylor Wimpey ensured the couple had a stress-free experience as Martin Gray, writer and journalist adds: “This is the first time that we have bought a property, and we naturally had lots of questions as we moved through the process.
“Our experience with Taylor Wimpey really worked well for us.  Jacquie and Kayla were very knowledgeable and they just put our minds at ease right at the start of the process.  Everyone has been so helpful, and nothing is ever too much trouble.  We can’t rate the staff highly enough.”

Part of the joy of buying a new home is the feeling of starting with a blank canvas and adding your own style and personal touches as Steven adds:  “From the moment we got our keys and unpacked our first few boxes, this has felt like home.  But, we have also really enjoyed putting our own stamp on the place with new furniture and expressing our own style.

“Our experience with Taylor Wimpey at Almond Park has been lovely and we got exactly what we wanted in terms of property and location.  We had no idea that Musselburgh would be such a fantastic place to live.  It’s so lovely and we already have lots of favourite places to eat out and catch-up with friends.

“The development is also so handy for public transport - we’re on the bus route if we want to get into Edinburgh, or the train station is just along the road.  Our move here has just worked out brilliantly.  It’s really just home and we love it.”

Karen Armstrong, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland adds: “It’s great to hear that first-time buyers like Steven and Martin have found their ideal location with us at our Almond Park development in Musselburgh.  The development offers a whole range of properties with a choice of styles of new homes to appeal to a range of buyers regardless of where they are on their property journey.  And our sales executives can offer buyers the benefit of their years of experience and help buyers to get on the move – perhaps sooner than buyers think might be possible.”
