“We had been living together for around 18 months in Carly’s house while I owned a one-bedroom terraced property nearby, when we decided to sell them and put our money together to buy a bigger and better home.
“When we went to view the ‘Croft’ showhome Carly walked in and fell in love with it. The house was outstanding – we had looked at other properties that were almost right but this one just had a tremendous feeling about it.
“When we first started looking at houses in spring last year, I made a light-hearted promise to Carly that when we found our dream home I would propose, so when we found the ‘Croft’ I had to stick to my word!
“Carly is a teacher, so I got in touch with the teaching assistant who she works with and she kindly helped me to interrupt their Monday morning maths lesson and arrange for the pupils in her class to each hold up a letter which collectively spelt ‘will you marry me?’, meaning that I could propose to her at the school.
“We got engaged in July 2015, we moved to our new home the following December and enjoyed our first Christmas there, and we got married this year on 31st March in Jamaica.
“The ‘Croft’ just felt like home the second we got in there. With it being a new-build we also had the opportunity to choose all of our interior Options, so we’ve selected everything including worktops, tiles, cupboards and bathroom suites, which has been really fun.
“We’ve even been able to choose where the plug sockets are located which is great, as with an older property you just get what you’re given.
“We knew we wanted three bedrooms with the prospect of having children one day in the future, and what stood out to us about the property was that all of the bedrooms were really spacious.
“They’re all substantially bigger than those in other new-build properties we looked at and the entire top floor is dedicated to our en-suite master bedroom which also has high-rise ceilings – it definitely has the wow factor.
“We had a tremendous relationship with the sales team at Leybourne Chase – Gill and Ann were phenomenal while Tony, our on-site representative, was so accommodating and really treated it like it was his own house. The staff genuinely cared and we noticed that other developers didn’t have that same level of attachment.
“Taylor Wimpey’s customer service was excellent and they cared more than anyone else has, even after they’d received our reservation fee the caring didn’t stop.
“The development is in a lovely location in the middle of woodland, so we have lots of greenery surrounding us, which combined with access to several motorways and good rail links to London, made the area perfect for us.
“We’ve never been happier now that we’re in our new home, with the wedding it’s made everything complete and we now have somewhere that’s both of ours with our joint identity.”
