First timers make it on the property ladder with a move to Winchburgh

Date: Friday 26 February 2016

Jemma Quinn (26) and her partner Michael Easton (28), who are both business managers in the financial sector in Edinburgh, have successfully taken their first step onto the property ladder with their move earlier this year from privately renting a property to owning their own three bedroom semi-detached Chalmers at our Seton Park development in Winchburgh.

Buying off-plan has really worked out well for the couple as Jemma comments:  “From the moment that we decided to move home, we knew that we wanted to buy a new-build home, and buying from plan has meant that we’ve been able to add some of our own choices too which is a great benefit when you buy so early on in a development.  We also liked the fact that everything is new and no-one has lived in the house before us.  And there’s no DIY to worry about which is perfect for us.

“We’d looked at quite a few developments, however Mike’s late father was a surveyor and he’d told us that Winchburgh was a real up and coming area, so it’s very fitting that we’ve made our final decision to move here and we’re really happy that everything has gone so smoothly.

“We love it here and the development is so friendly.  The commute to work is great with options for the car or bus depending on what suits us.  Plus, our neighbours are great and we’re all getting along really well, and of course we have that balance of our own space for when we want some privacy.”

The young couple have found the whole process of buying a new home really stress-free as Michael adds:  “We’ve quite enjoyed the whole process of buying our first home.  Our sales executive Isla has helped us so much and she’s made everything just so simple and straight forward – we haven’t worried about a thing.  We’d originally thought we’d be interested in the Help to Buy (Scotland) scheme, but in the end we could afford the deposit ourselves and we secured the house that we loved without it so we’re really happy.  And Mike our site manager is great – we’ve had a really good service from the team and they’ve been able to assist us with everything that we’ve asked for.”

The couple already have their eye on the future as Jemma says: “We love the space that our house offers us now – upstairs the bedrooms are a really good size and downstairs our living room is spacious.  But in the next year or so we may convert the garage, and that’s what we really liked about this particular house because it gives us what we need and want right now but it’s also got potential for the future.
“We’re also looking forward to seeing how this whole area changes because there’s lots planned in terms of local facilities - so it’s a great place for us to settle down and perhaps have a family.”

Buyers looking for a stress-free move to a new home can currently take advantage of part-exchange on selected new homes at Seton Park in Winchburgh to get their move to a new home off to a great start.
