“I was born in Arbroath and I moved to the country when I was four, but I’ve lived back in Arbroath since I was 18.
"When my wife Sharon and I, and our two children Evan (13) and Jaye (7) decided that we needed to move from our townhouse near the centre of Arbroath we set about finding somewhere to live that offered us a bit of everything and we found that at Abbey Grange.
“The setting is beautiful – we’ve got beautiful walks near the cliffs and Victoria Park, but because we’re on the edge of the town, we’re also really handy for schools and the local shops and services in Arbroath itself so it’s the best of all worlds. Plus we knew that moving here wouldn’t affect the children’s schools and they’d be able to carry on as normal so that was a real benefit too.
“We feel quite lucky to be among the first families to move in. It’s just so picturesque here and the neighbours are lovely – we know we’ve made a great decision to move here. But we’re also very lucky to even have been able to move-in to this fabulous development.
“We were due to move-in at the beginning of December last year, everything had gone really smoothly with our reservation and we’d been delighted by the service that Taylor Wimpey had offered us through their part-exchange scheme.
“It was just hassle-free and saved us having to put our original home on the market. The process was perfect for us as I work on a two-week rotation off-shore so I just wanted moving home to be as easy as possible, and we all just wanted to get on with our move and start living in our new home.
“However, working off-shore caused a complication with our mortgage providers who pulled-out at the last minute. I felt as though our whole world had fallen apart and was concerned that we’d lose our dream home – and in fact our dream plot as we’d specifically chosen the four bedroom detached Stewart for its position on the development and south-facing garden.
“Our sales executive at Taylor Wimpey was just fantastic. Straightaway she put us in touch with one of Taylor Wimpey’s approved IFA’s and he managed to arrange a new mortgage for us. Unfortunately it took a few months to get everything sorted out – but during this time Taylor Wimpey were brilliant. They held our plot for us and reassured us throughout the whole process. Without them we just wouldn’t be here in this great house!”
