Young Couple Give Up Renting To Step On The Property Ladder At Dargavel Village

Moving to Dargavel Village South, part of the multi-million pound development that nestles on the edge of Bishopton in Renfrewshire, has been a dream move that’s been more than worthwhile for first time buyers Hari and Yamini.

The couple were renting in Glasgow having relocated from London when they decided they’d like to set up their family home in Scotland.  After lots of painstaking research that took the couple to a number of new-build developments across Glasgow and its surrounding towns, the couple chose to make their move to Dargavel Village South – reserving a three bedroom semi-detached Chalmers on their first visit to the development.

The location of Dargavel Village really ticked lots of boxes for the couple as Hari explains:  “My wife and I both work in the city-centre of Glasgow as IT consultants for the Banking sector so once we’d finally decided that it was the right time to buy our first home rather than continuing to rent, we began our research into the developments around that would offer us the type of home that we wanted in the ideal location.

“The transport links to and from Dargavel Village are really good – there’s a train every 15 minutes and our walk to the train station in Bishopton is less than ten minutes so we knew that our commute into Glasgow to work would be really easy if we bought a new home here, and we really liked the local area.  

“It’s absolutely stunning here.  Sometimes in the winter months you can see mountains in the distance covered in snow and there’s also so much local wildlife right on our doorstep – it’s really quite surprising to have all this natural beauty just a short train journey from Glasgow and we love it.”

The couple were impressed with Taylor Wimpey’s customer service from day one as Yamini adds:  “Taylor Wimpey’s sales executive Nicola was so helpful on our visit to the sales information centre.  She was extremely knowledgeable and she spent lots of time with us making sure that we bought the right house for us.  

“We considered some of the other styles of homes that were available, but with Nicola’s advice we settled on the three bedroom semi-detached Chalmers which we just love the layout because it’s ideal for us.

“We’re also really impressed with the quality of our new home.  When we carried out our extensive research of locations we took the opportunity to check out the quality of Taylor Wimpey’s homes at its Newton Farm development in Cambuslang.  So when we came to Dargavel Village South we knew that we were very comfortable with our decision to move here.  Everything just clicked into place and Nicola was fantastic throughout the whole process.  

“She was also incredible on the day of our move.  Within our culture it is important for us that major life events such as a wedding or moving to a new property takes place on an auspicious date.  

“So we had arranged with Taylor Wimpey that we would legally complete and take ownership of our property on 25 August – this date was important to us because Krishna Janmashtami, the Indian Festival happened on that date.  

“And if it hadn’t been for Nicola, once again going out of her way to assist us, we wouldn’t have been able to achieve this because we left our office in Glasgow early that day to drive out the development and unfortunately we were caught up in really bad traffic around Braehead.  And this delayed us by quite some time.  We stayed in touch with Nicola to keep her informed of our slow progress and she assured us that she would change her personal arrangements to stay a bit later for us which was just wonderful.  

“We made it to the development with literally one minute to spare before we knew that Nicola had to leave for the evening, but she was there to greet us warmly and take us to our new home.”  

Buying a new home and giving up renting has been the right decision for the couple as Hari adds: “Looking back now we know that we’ve done the right thing in buying a property rather than continuing to rent.  It definitely feels like the right thing to do if you can to invest in your future in this way – we were used to paying substantial amounts of money each money in rent but we owned nothing.  Now our mortgage payment is a very similar amount and we own our first family home.”

Taylor Wimpey’s new customer journey charter is also reaping rewards for customers like Hari and Yamini as Hari explains:  “Once we completed the purchase of our new home and we had moved in, we were introduced to our customer relations manager Suzy whose job it is to explain how every aspect of your new home works and provide a link to Taylor Wimpey if you have any issues that need to be resolved. We’ve found this level of customer service to be really helpful.  

“Because of our work commitments, Suzy was able to visit us at home on a Sunday and she was really informative when she carried out our house demonstration.  
“When you’ve never owned your own home before there’s really quite a lot to understand about how your new home functions, and she was incredibly patient answering our hundreds of questions.

“Having the continuity of support through to aftersales is of great benefit for new home owners –Taylor Wimpey has been able to correct minor snagging issues very efficiently and this has made our whole customer journey with Taylor Wimpey West Scotland a very positive one.”
