Local community football team scores support from Taylor Wimpey in Bathgate
Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has shown its support for local children’s community football by donating £2,000 to allow the Bathgate Community Football Club to establish a new 2018 boys' football team and supply training kits and match-day tracksuit jackets for the older 2011 team.
Club Coach Coordinator David Drummond for Bathgate Thistle Community Football team said: “It was our ambition to establish a new team for boys aged six, and we are thrilled to have received this substantial support from Taylor Wimpey, which has helped us to do that. We are so grateful for their support for initiatives like ours in the local community.
“We have provided training strips for every player and buy essential training equipment, ensuring our weekly training sessions are fun, healthy and safe for everyone taking part. Taylor Wimpey’s donation also allowed us to extend some much-needed support to our 2011 team, who needed new training kits and matchday tracksuit jackets.”

“We are proud to be continuing our support for grassroots football in the local communities where we build, and we were delighted to be able to help Bathgate Thistle Community Football Club to establish a new team for children aged six to get involved in sport. “It’s great to see the children having such a fun time learning their sport, and we hope to see some stars of the future playing for the Scotland football team. We’re also delighted to have extended our support to the 2011 team to ensure they reflect the club's professionalism as they head into their matches and training sessions. “This sponsorship allows us to play our part in continuing our support in the local community, and it also allows us to underpin our commitment to creating a fantastic range of family homes at our Sibbalds Wynd development in Bathgate.”
Local school children help to welcome our new residents in Bathgate
The homebuilder challenged the children to create a colourful design, and Alice in Primary 4M's winning entry has been turned into a card given to homeowners when they move into their new homes.Alice received a £50 voucher. Because the standard of entries was so impressive, the judges chose Millie and Russell, both from Primary 4B, as the two runner-up designs, each winning a £25 voucher.
Windyknowe Primary School received a £200 donation as a thank-you for getting involved. The children were recently invited to the development to be awarded prizes and receive framed copies of their impressive designs.
Commenting on the children’s participation in the competition, Mr Cloherty, Head Teacher, said: “Our Primary 4 children enjoyed taking part in this unusual challenge from Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, and they produced a range of very colourful and interesting designs. This project has been a great opportunity for our school to play a part in the new and growing community nearby.”
Earlier this year, the Taylor Wimpey East Scotland team also took the opportunity to remind all of the children at Windyknowe Primary never to play near a construction site with its fun and engaging health and safety talk. As part of the visit, the children were asked to design a health and safety poster to remind children of the dangers of a construction site – a selection of the most impressive designs have been created into a banner that will be displayed at the development.
“We would like to thank every Primary 4 pupil who got involved with our ‘Welcome Home’ card competition. All the entries were fantastic, and we struggled to pick a winner. In the end, we decided that Alice’s design would act as the perfect colourful greeting. We were so impressed with the children’s designs that we chose two more designs to award prizes too, and we understand the children had great fun taking part in our unique challenge - well done to everyone!”

Investment in the local area
A home is more than just a house, it’s also about the community that surrounds it. And that’s why we invest in building communities that support local businesses, improve facilities in the area and help bring people together.
We announce a partnership with The School Bank West Lothian
As part of our ongoing commitment to working in partnership with local communities, we have teamed up with The School Bank West Lothian, based in Livingston, to confirm that we will donate £25 for each new home sold and legally completed within our development of new homes at our Sibbalds Wynd development in Bathgate.
In total, a grand sum of £4,725 will be paid to The School Bank West Lothian as work at the development progresses. This signals the start of a long-term relationship and the money will go directly to supporting the work that The School Bank West Lothian does with families across the local area of West Lothian. The School Bank West Lothian is a volunteer-led group that aims to improve the lives of children in West Lothian experiencing financial hardship. Each year, they distribute new school uniforms and school items to hundreds of families across the local area.
