As we are now selling our final homes on the development, there is a real sense of community here at Orchard Chase. Popular with families and first time buyers wanting to make the most of being so close to Biggleswade's excellent amenities, there’s plenty of opportunity to meet new people.
You’ll find the market town is a welcoming community hub that has grown over recent years. Shops, the train line to London and various well regarded eateries, Biggleswade is in demand. Orchard Chase is well located making the most of beautiful Bedfordshire countryside behind but whilst being in walking distance to shops and Saxon Leisure Centre, ideal if you’re looking to take up a new hobby or keep active.
Local investment
A home is more than just a house, it’s also about the community that surrounds it. And that’s why we invest in building communities that support local businesses, improve facilities in the area and help bring people together.
To help build a community, in addition to the provision of both market and extra care housing, we are also making financial contributions through Section 106 agreements towards education and leisure facilities.
Meet our team
Sales Executive Jeannette reflects on her near 20 year career with us.
Following a stint working in the travel sector, Jeannette Stevens joined us in 2005 wanting to build on a career in sales. As she approaches her 20th year working for the company, Jeannette talks through some of her memories during this time.
“I can’t believe next year will be my twentieth working for Taylor Wimpey, it seems a lifetime ago when I started on my first development, Chatsworth Manor in Ruislip, Middlesex.
“I have sold so many homes since then, with some really fond times to look back on. I’ve sold to some people not just once but three times - it’s a fantastic feeling to know you’ve helped someone purchase a home once, let alone more than this. It is wonderful to have customers recognise me from a previous purchase, too.”
Jeannette began working in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire in 2012 and was so pleased with the homes she was selling that in 2018 she decided to purchase one for herself at Orchard Chase in Biggleswade.
“I loved the Langdale house type, and its particular location on the development, that we decided to make a purchase. I often bump into my customers out and about in the local area which is lovely. One of the best things about the Langdale is the large sociable kitchen, that you can have as a kitchen diner or as a kitchen with a snug area. We loved that it has four good sized bedrooms and looks impressive from the front as well.”
Commenting on what she loves about her job, Jeannette added: “I really enjoy the freedom of the role, speaking to customers and guiding people on their journey to purchase a new home.”
Donation to Biggleswade Scouts
We support Biggleswade Scouts with a £1,500 donation towards refurbishing their 'hut'.
Biggleswade Scout Group runs a weekly programme for around 200 young people from 6 – 18 years old, to help them develop skills for life. The group is run solely by volunteers.
“We are absolutely thrilled to receive this level of support from Taylor Wimpey. The money will be put to great use in refurbishing a cupboard and storage area in our hut, which is home to all of our games and equipment. This improvement will help with the organisation of the space and make our leaders' lives much simpler when it comes to planning activities for the children. Thank you again to Taylor Wimpey.” Sue Doyle, Group Lead Volunteer at Biggleswade Scouts
