Connectivity
The A701 road runs between Bilston and Loanhead, connecting Dumfries to Edinburgh. It also crosses the A720 city bypass. The development is very well connected to Edinburgh via bus, with many bus stops nearby with direct routes into Edinburgh City Centre.
Within the area of the proposed development lie numerous core paths which will connect local residents with nearby settlements and features.

Ecology
Preserving and enhancing local wildlife is a key consideration when we plan and build new developments. We have carried out an initial assessment of the ecological features present to identify any ecological constraints on the site. Our plans propose significant opportunities to enhance the site for local wildlife and measures to enhance biodiversity including bird and bat boxes.
The development framework seeks to create a plan that blends seamlessly with the existing surroundings and enhances the overall area.
Community benefits features
We believe it’s our responsibility to support our communities, so that people are proud to call them home. That’s why we regularly donate time and money to local causes, and are passionate about investing in the areas we build.
Our new Environment Strategy sets out how we intend to help protect our environment for future generations by partnering with suppliers to reduce the impact of the homes and developments we build. We will make it easier for our customers to live a sustainable lifestyle. Our strategy focuses on the key environmental impacts for our business: climate change, nature, resources and waste.

Supporting the local community Supporting the local community
We regularly support school, charities and community groups surrounding our developments. Our last Midlothian Community Chest project made donations to three local charities, including Bright Sparks SCIO – a registered charity offering play opportunities for children and young people with additional support needs in Midlothian. We have also made multiple donations to the Bilston Community Garden, which included 30 trees as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy project marking Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.
