Sondes Meadows is a new community with a range of brand-new homes in the charming area of Doking.
We’ve helped to bring new bandstand to life in our community
Our £1,000 donation was put towards a performance by the Allegra Concert Band, allowing the community to come together to enjoy a series of free concerts.
The bandstand serves as a memorial to honour the lives lost during the Covid-19 pandemic, offering the town a new outdoor music and performance venue.
Ian Mason, Volunteer for Dorking Bandstand CIO, said: “On behalf of the Trustees of the Dorking Pandemic Memorial Community Bandstand, I would like to thank all of our sponsors for their support.
“It has quickly become an established feature of Meadowbank Park and we love seeing the crowds enjoying the music.”
Leon McGinty, Acting Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South Thames, said: “We’re very proud to be supporting the Dorking community by helping to fund this amazing series of concerts at the new bandstand.
“Having spaces like this, where people can gather, enjoy great music and spend time together is so important, and we all remember what it was like during the pandemic when that wasn’t possible.”
About our donation
We’ve donated £500 to Dorking Area Foodbank, supporting families struggling to feed their children during the school holidays.
The foodbank provides emergency food support to people who need it most, supported by a team of 80 volunteers.
The donation forms part of a wider Taylor Wimpey initiative to support food banks across the UK who may experience a spike in demand during the school holidays.
Katy Harris, Project Lead for Dorking Area Foodbank, said: “On behalf of Dorking Area Foodbank, thank you to Taylor Wimpey South Thames for their generous donation. School holidays can be a particularly challenging time for many families, as children who normally receive free school meals are at home. Donations like this help foodbanks continue to provide essential support to the people who need it the most.”
Leon McGinty, Acting Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South Thames, said: “We’re honoured to be supporting such an impactful organisation within the local community, which provides a vital lifeline for individuals and families facing difficult circumstances.
“Our national campaign aims to help combat holiday hunger, supporting local organisations to make a tangible difference within the communities we are building in.”
Supporting grassroots rugby in the local community
We have sponsored Dorking Rugby Club, a long-standing pillar of the community, to help bring the thriving sport to players of all ages in the Dorking area.
Dorking Rugby Club, founded in 1921, is a leading club within Surrey. It is a club for the whole community, with teams for men, women and children.
Geoff Watson, Head of Sponsorship at Dorking Rugby Club, said: “We rely on the generosity of our sponsors to help make this club thrive, so we’re grateful to Taylor Wimpey for supporting our community.
“Our club is committed to giving more people the opportunity to get involved in this wonderful sport, so support like this is important to help us reach more people.”
Leon McGinty, Acting Sales and Marketing Director, said: “Grassroots sports clubs can provide life-changing opportunities they create for young people and we’re proud to be supporting Dorking Rugby Club this season.”

We’re providing more than £3m in community contributions
As part of the planning consent for our Sondes Meadows development, we’re investing £3.2m in the local community.

About the visit to Sondes Meadows
A group of 12 students from Leatherhead were invited to our community for a hands-on lesson in how a development is planned, designed, built and sold.
Helen Maguire, MP for Epsom and Ewell, joined the students to gain an insight into the work that Taylor Wimpey and MITSkills are carrying out in her constituency.
The visit was organised through MITSkills, a training provider that has partnered with Taylor Wimpey and local schools to deliver a construction careers programme to local students, offering practical experience for young people across Surrey and West London.
The students had the chance to experience a live construction environment, meet professionals with experience across the housebuilding industry and learn about the diverse roles and skills needed to build a modern development.
Helen Maguire MP said: “It was fantastic to meet such a talented group of young people and see first-hand the opportunities this partnership is creating for them. Programmes like this are crucial in helping our young people discover careers with longevity close to home, and I'm grateful to MITSkills and Taylor Wimpey for the work they're doing to make that possible.”
Hani Zubeidi, Operations Director at MITSkills, said: “We are absolutely delighted to provide this valuable opportunity to young people. The visit to the construction site at Sondes Meadows demonstrates Taylor Wimpey’s commitment to investing in local communities and supporting the next generation of construction professionals.
“Through this programme, participants will gain practical experience, industry-recognised knowledge and greater awareness of the exciting career opportunities available within the construction sector. We hope this initiative will inspire young people to consider apprenticeships, T Levels and further education routes that can lead to rewarding and fulfilling careers.”
We supported The Priory C of E School
A team from Taylor Wimpey visited the school to support pupils in building their confidence by conducting mock interviews and providing feedback on their CVs. The organiser said -
"I can't thank you enough for being prepared to come and interview our students. Your dynamism and enthusiasm shone through and made things easier for our quite nervous students. You helped create such a buzz around the school as the students came out smiling!"
