Taylor Wimpey East Scotland and Calderwood Primary collaborate for Christmas card competition
Taylor Wimpey East Scotland teamed up with the children in Primary 4 at Calderwood Primary School in East Calder to organise a Christmas card competition. The goal was to bring some Christmas cheer to residents living in Taylor Wimpey’s latest phase of the Calderwood development by having school children create festive artwork.The pupils showcased their artistic talents, creating a variety of Christmas card designs that captured the holiday spirit. The competition winners were announced, with the top three places receiving national book vouchers of £50, £30, and £20 to reward the pupils for their efforts and spread some festive cheer.
The winning Christmas card design by Sid has been reproduced and sent as a special greeting to residents in Taylor Wimpey’s most recent phase of the development, adding a personal touch to the festivities within the community. Runners-up were Aaliyah and Ella.
Kirsty McGill, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said: "We're excited about our collaboration with Calderwood Primary and are delighted they accepted our challenge to take part in our Christmas card competition. The pupils' enthusiasm and creativity were impressive, and we hope the winning design adds some festive cheer for our Calderwood residents.

Taylor Wimpey East Scotland secures planning consent for our final development in Calderwood
We have secured planning permission from West Lothian Council for our final 112 new homes, off Calderwood Road in East Calder. We have also acquired the land, signalling 10 years of continued commitment to the wider Calderwood masterplan.This last development by Taylor Wimpey in Calderwood will offer an impressive selection of two, three, four, and five-bedroom homes designed to cater to a wide range of buyers. fourteen percent of the properties will be delivered to satisfy West Lothian Council’s affordable homes policy, and it is anticipated that the range of two, three and four-bedroom affordable homes will be for social rent. Construction work on our final development in Calderwood is already underway.

In 2023, we launched our Community Chest project on social media asking the local community across West Lothian to nominate good causes operating near our Calderwood development to share in our Community Chest of £750. The campaign generated over 40 nominations and three local charities and we selected three great community groups to share the fund with each receiving a £250 boost to their bank accounts.
Each group makes a real difference to the local community across West Lothian, and the following are delighted to have received £250:
· Diversified – Scotland’s first autistic and neurodivergent youth-led charity
· Neil’s Hugs Foundation – Help and support for families and friends affected by suicide
· West Lothian Litter Pickers – A voluntary group aiming to clean up West Lothian
Baxter loves this new home
When first-time buyers Shannon Riley and Caitlin Macintyre decided to take their first step on to the property ladder, they loved the range of benefits that buying a new home gave them.
With Shannon originally from Edinburgh and Caitlin from Glasgow, Calderwood was the ideal choice from a location perspective as Shannon explains: “We’ve been watching Calderwood develop as we’ve driven past regularly almost since construction started, so when we decided to buy a new home together it was the first location we considered. It’s so handy being almost the same distance to each of our families and friends, plus Calderwood really does have a sense of its own – it’s a lovely place that’s growing here on the outskirts of East Calder.
The couple bought the practical and stylish Baxter three bedroom semi-detached home, which just simply ticked all of their boxes as Caitlin adds: “We just fell in love with the layout of the Baxter. We have always wanted a dog and we felt this layout would be so practical if we decided to go for it. In fact, it’s so practical that we now have a little Cavapoo, so really, we bought it for him, so he had to be called Baxter!".
The couple have really enjoyed their buying experience with Taylor Wimpey, and it’s been a stress-free and easy journey as Shannon adds: “We can’t fault the service that we’ve had from the sales team and the construction team on-site. Everything has been so smooth".
