Christmas Dinner
The Christmas Dinner Folkestone have been announced as the latest winners of our Community Chest competition. The volunteer-led group, which was set up in 2021, has received a £1,000 donation which will go towards providing a Christmas Day event for young adults aged 18 to 25 who have left the care system and would otherwise spend the day alone.
Tom Wells, volunteer at The Christmas Dinner Folkestone, said: “A massive thank you to Taylor Wimpey for such a generous donation. Each year, we welcome up to 50 Care Leavers from across Kent, many of whom would otherwise spend Christmas Day alone. Thanks to the support we receive, we're able to provide transport, a festive meal, entertainment, gifts, and hampers to take home. As an entirely voluntary group, we depend on the generosity of our local community to make this special event possible for our Care Leavers.”

Charity golf day
Our South East team hosted a Charity Golf Day at Birchwood Park Golf & Country Club Golf Club on Thursday 7th September, in order to raise significant funds and much needed awareness for Amber, a local youth homelessness charity. Amber helps young homeless people to transform their lives by giving them a safe place to live, as well as support and opportunities to find employment, education or training. Our South East team raised £18,000 during the Charity Golf Day and the proceeds will help the young people living at the Downsview centre, located just outside of Ashford.
We support Folkestone Armed Forces & Community Fun Day
The family fun day, organised by Folkestone Town Council, took place on Sunday 30th June. This national event aims to honour those currently serving in the military and commemorate those who have lost their lives in service.
The community was treated to a variety of activities, including a memorable display by the Red Arrows. Children and adults alike enjoyed the cadet’s activity tents and face painting, while military enthusiasts explored static aircraft and vehicle displays.
Visitors also enjoyed an array of food stalls, bars and live music making it a memorable day for all attendees.

Sandgate Community Garden blooms with donation from our team
Sandgate Community Garden, a volunteer-led initiative at Enbrook Park in Sandgate, has received a £300 donation from our South East team.
Founded in 2019, the group hosts weekly gardening sessions for the local community, including lessons on growing food. Our donation will support their efforts to improve the natural environment, including the upkeep of a newly introduced wildlife pond.
The team of volunteers also support other local initiatives in Sandgate and Folkestone, including some 'Incredible Edible' planters, and patches of land, where locally grown produce is shared among community members.
Leonie Wootton, Sandgate Community Garden, said: “We would like to thank Taylor Wimpey’s for their support in helping us enhance the Sandgate Community Garden and further our mission of fostering environmental education and sustainability. This donation will help us continue to create a vibrant space for learning.”

Rising golf star Ellie Taylor celebrates sponsorship
Promising young golfer Ellie Taylor is celebrating a new sponsorship from our South East team. At just ten years old, Ellie is ranked among the top 18 female golfers of her age in the UK and has twice been named “Best Girl in Kent Under 10” at the Kent Golf Invicta 10s. She is also the daughter of Colin, Site Manager at Shorncliffe Heights.
Ellie has most recently competed in the Nick Faldo Futures Series - a national competition with over 1,000 entrants. She reached the grand final of the competition which took place at the Belfry on August 28th and secured a top 10 finish.
Ellie said: “I’d like to thank Taylor Wimpey for their support. Their sponsorship will help me enter more tournaments and keep improving my game. I’m excited about what’s ahead and can’t wait to keep playing and learning.”
