New build quality and affordability helped to convince an Essex couple to buy their first home together at Taylor Wimpey’s Handley Gardens development in Maldon.
Louis Goodhew, 29, and partner Lucy Crabtree, 28, were ready to take their first steps onto the property ladder after living with their families. They lived close to Maldon so were well aware of Handley Gardens, where Taylor Wimpey has been building a new community for over five years.
As well as a wide range of modern new properties, Handley Gardens is also now home to a brand new primary school as well as a sports pavilion and a range of green spaces.
Louise said: “I knew that Handley Gardens was well situated and the development was already well established when we decided to move, so we could see first hand what a nice place to live it would be. We were also attracted because of the large community and the proximity to all of Maldon’s shops and amenities.”
Louis, who works for Taylor Wimpey as a site manager in Wivenhoe, was well aware of the quality and affordability of a new build home.
Louis said: “We felt that buying a new-build home was the best thing for us, as we were able to get an amazing first home with the funds we had. We felt that buying a new-build gave us the best chance to get onto the property ladder as well as offering the best value for money.
“We chose a Taylor Wimpey home because we could see the build standard was brilliant, and with the NHBC 10 year warranty, we felt a real sense of peace of mind when choosing our home.”
As first time buyers Louis and Lucy opted for the three-bedroom Woodman housetype.
Louis said: “We chose the Woodman as it felt really spacious and open for a three-bedroom home. The layout really works for us and we especially love that we have double doors leading out into our garden.
“I have loved turning a new house into a home alongside my girlfriend. We’ve created fun and amazing memories that will stick with me for the rest of my life.”
Since moving in the couple have grown to love the new community that has been established at Handley Gardens.
Louis said: “It’s been a wonderful place to live with a community that all care for each other and are always there to give a helping hand or share a chat now and then. We’ve even set up a Facebook group which has been a great way to get to know everyone and stay close and connected. We've been really enjoying getting to know our neighbours and becoming part of a really nice and friendly community.
“I really enjoy taking a walk around the gravel public footpaths as I’ve found it is a great way to get out for a walk, bike ride and meet some people along the way too. We absolutely love our home and being part of such a vibrant place to live has been the cherry on top.”
