Archaeologists discovered evidence that Shaw Valley was once home to a Bronze Age monument. Excavations uncovered signs that a round barrow dating back as early as 2200BC once existed on the site.According to Foundations Archaeology, which carried out the dig on behalf of Taylor Wimpey, it would have had a striking white appearance, and would probably have been used for funeral rituals.
We worked with Shaw-cum-Donnington Primary School to organise a talk on the finds for pupils in. Teacher Liz Sayer said: “It was a fantastic talk and discussion with the archaeologist. We are so grateful for the visit.”
