Learn about our plans for an exciting new development in Altofts, Normanton.

Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire will be seeking approval from Wakefield District Council for a new housing scheme located in Altofts.

The proposed development will deliver 408 new homes to Altofts and is located off Station Road. As part of the proposal, there will be a mixture of apartments, bungalows and houses ranging from two to four bedrooms as well as a range of two to three bedroom affordable homes. This site is currently allocated for housing in the new Local Plan for Wakefield and we will be seeking approval from Wakefield District Council on amount, scale, layout and appearance of the development to reflect the needs of the community.

Located within close proximity to Junction 31 of the M62, this new development will be well located for those who wish to commute to neighbouring towns and cities, including Wakefield, Pontefract and Leeds.

Our proposals for Station Road

Master Plan

Our master plan showcases our proposal of approximately 408 new homes, as well as ample public green space.
Our proposed plan has been designed keeping the local community and surrounding residential developments in mind, with the intent to complement and blend with existing housing. The new scheme will feature vast open space and will benefit from a 'village green' on entry to the development in order to create a sense of arrival. Footpaths and cycle paths will be present throughout the site and will help to connect the new development to the surrounding community via established footpaths.

Connectivity

Sitting close by to major routes, the site will benefit those looking for quick access to the centre of Wakefield or those looking to commute to neighbouring towns and cities.
The site located within a close proximity to Junction 31 on the M62 and has excellent connectivity with Wakefield City Centre and Pontefract, including a number of bus services from Station Road that offer regular connections. Junction 32 and Xscape at Castleford are also located within a five mile drive.

A public footpath is proposed to be incorporated from the existing residential development to the north through the development with access to the land at the east, west and south.

Ecology

Large swathes of public open space dissect the site east to west and along the eastern boundary, providing a high-quality ecological habitat and a buffer adjacent to the Normanton Sidings Local Wildlife Site.
