We have submitted an outline planning application (application ref. 31/23/0007) for up to 150 new homes at Brookfield Nurseries on the western edge of Ruishton.
Our proposals include a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom properties. To support the council’s ambition for more affordable housing, 25% will be affordable homes. This development will provide an excellent choice for all buyers, from working professionals and young couples taking their first step on the housing ladder, to growing families or downsizers.
Our plans for the site would deliver a high-quality scheme that, if approved, will provide much-needed new homes in Ruishton.

The development site covers approximately 7 ha and comprises of a plant nursery and open arable ground. There is an existing vehicle access from Ruishton Lane, the site is bounded by a hedge on the southern boundary, to the east is a residential property on Orchard Rise and to the west and north is the ‘Black Brook’ water course. Beyond the site is arable land leading up to the M5 motorway.
Connectivity
As existing residents will be aware, Ruishton Lane is a narrow road and is the only way to get to the site and is one of the main routes into Ruishton via the A358.
To facilitate the proposed development and improve access into Ruishton, the access strategy will be to reinforce safety along Ruishton Lane by introducing a new footway along the proposed development frontage behind the existing hedge which will be kept in situ. We are also proposing to introduce virtual footways and traffic calming features.
