We support Blyth school with World Book Day donation

World Book Day celebrations at Bede Academy in Blyth were boosted by a monetary donation from our North East team as part of our support of the national event, which took place on Thursday 7th March. The school will use the funds to purchase new books for its library, with the aim to expand its current fictional offerings for the pupils.

Helping to educate

Leanne Riddell, Primary Classroom Teacher at Bede Academy said: “World Book Day is a vital initiative to us as it encourages our children to immerse themselves in the world of their favourite fictional characters and promotes a love of reading. We really appreciate Taylor Wimpey working with us to provide more books for the pupils to enjoy.”

Sarah Whittingham, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey North East, said: “World Book Day is a fantastic celebration of all things books. It encourages children and young adults in every local community to embrace reading, discover new tales and encourages discussion with their peers, which we’re only too happy to support. The children look like they had a wonderful day dressing up as some of their fictional heroes and we hope that the books that Bede Academy buys with our £200 donation will be enjoyed by kids for many years to come.”
