Stotfold Taylor's Road

Land off Taylor’s Road - Stotfold - Bedfordshire

We are preparing a planning application for a development of 35 new homes in Stotfold, on land off Taylor’s Road and to the west of Taylor Wimpey’s proposed development off Aspen Gardens.

  • Land off Taylor’s Road

We are currently drawing up proposals for a new development of 35 high-quality homes on land off Taylor’s Road in Stotfold, Bedfordshire.

Under our proposals, more than 30% (11 homes) of the new properties will be provided as affordable housing. These will be administered by a council-approved housing association for local people in housing need.

In order to allow local residents, key stakeholders and community groups to find out more about our emerging proposals, we held a public consultation event at The Simpson Centre in Hitchin Road, Stotfold, on Monday 25th January 2016.

Visitors were able to view our emerging proposals, speak to experts from our project team, ask questions and provide us with their feedback on the scheme.

If you would like to view the exhibition boards displayed at the public consultation, they can be downloaded by clicking here.

The comments we received from local residents and stakeholders during the two-week consultation period that followed the exhibition will help us to refine our emerging plans before we finalise and submit a planning application to Central Bedfordshire Council.

  • About the site

A red-line map indicating the area of the proposed site

The proposed site is situated on land to the south of Taylor’s Road and to the east of Astwick Road. It lies directly adjacent to our existing Beauchamp Mill development and to the west of Taylor Wimpey’s proposed development off Aspen Gardens, which is being progressed by our Strategic Land Team.

The site off Taylor’s Road covers 0.6 hectares (1.5 acres) and is currently being marketed for employment use but has received no interest of significant note.

We therefore believe that there is no longer demand for employment land in this location. Our proposal therefore seeks to viably redevelop the site to provide much-needed market and affordable homes.

  • What's proposed

Our proposals include the following key elements:

    • 35 high-quality new homes

    • A mix of property types and sizes to suit people in a range of circumstances

    • A provision of affordable housing in line with local authority planning policy

    • New vehicular access to be established off Aspen Gardens

    • The demolition of existing commercial units and decontamination of the site

    • An architectural approach that is aesthetically pleasing and compliments the existing character of Stotfold as well as the adjacent Beauchamp Mill development.
