Land west of Egginton Road - Etwall - Derbyshire

Taylor Wimpey has prepared proposals for a residential development of approximately 120 new homes, open space and landscaping on land west of Egginton Road, Etwall.

  • Overview

Land west of Egginton Road, Etwall

This web page gives you the chance to find out more about our proposals for a new residential development on land west of Egginton Road, Etwall.

We submitted an outline planning application to South Derbyshire District Council in September 2015 for approximately 120 dwellings, open space and landscaping to be provided on the site, including an area for possible community uses.

This application was prepared following a public exhibition held in Etwall in June 2015. You can download the exhibition boards displayed at this public consultation event by clicking here.

Our outline planning application has since been rejected by South Derbyshire District Council and we are currently considering our strategy for the site.

If you would like to view details of our outline planning application you can do so by visiting South Derbyshire District Council's online planning pages (search application reference 9/2015/0876 for the housing proposals and 9/2015/0877 for the public open space).

  • About the site

    About the site

The development site is currently a greenfield site located on the south-western edge of Etwall, with access from Egginton Road.

Existing residential properties neighbour the site to the north and east, while open fields are located to the west and south. Etwall Brook lies a little beyond the site’s western borders, while a sewage works is also located along a section of this boundary.

Existing hedgerows lie along the field boundaries and our plans include the retention of the better quality mature trees and hedgerows on the site, as well as providing additional planting throughout the site.

  • What's proposed

Our development is designed to work within the constraints and opportunities of the site and is a scheme that respects the area's surroundings.

Key elements of our development are as follows:

    • Approximately 120 new homes
    • A proportion of affordable housing
    • Open space and landscaping
    • An area for possible community uses

  • Community

We will provide a number of contributions towards the local community as part of our proposed development, with details of these contributions agreed with the relevant local authorities.
