Taylor Wimpey is preparing outline plans for a new residential development on land adjacent to Godwell Lane and Exeter Road, Ivybridge.

    Land at Godwell Lane

    We have an option to purchase the land from the existing landowners, subject to planning permission being granted for our proposed residential development.

    We are currently carrying out initial technical studies of the site to ascertain its suitability for residential development.

    Should our studies confirm development is viable, we will submit a detailed planning application for a residential development in 2017.

    Once we have completed our initial scheme and layout plan, we will conduct a public consultation to give local people the opportunity to find out more about what we have planned and tell us what they think.

    The feedback we receive during this public consultation will help us to finalise our proposals before we submit a planning application to South Hams District Council.

    About the site

    The proposed development site covers an area of 10.25 acres and is currently in agricultural use. It lies between Godwell in Ivybridge to the west and Filham to the east.  The A38 Devon Expressway lays to the south of the site, providing fast links by road to Plymouth and Exeter.  Dartmoor National Park lies to the north, offering ca wide range of leisure opportunities.

    Before we submit a planning application we will do the following:

    • Carry out technical studies
    • Discuss requirements for the site with officers from South Hams District Council and Ivybridge Town Council.
    • Talk to local councillors about their priorities and objectives for the development
    • Hold a public consultation event to give local people the chance to find out more about our plans and comment on the scheme

    Should the Godwell Lane planning application be approved, we will provide a number of contributions towards the local community as part of the proposed development. Details of these contributions will be agreed with the relevant local authorities at a later stage.
