    Taylor Wimpey and Avant Homes are preparing a Full Planning Application for the development of circa 211 homes in Market Weighton, ranging from 2 – 4 bedrooms.

     

    The site forms part of a wider residential allocation formally adopted in July 2016, but does not benefit from any existing approvals. The allocation establishes only the principle of residential development on the site.

     

    Taylor Wimpey and Avant are therefore preparing a Full Planning Application with details of layout, access, appearance, scale and landscaping for submission to East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

    About The Site

    The site is located off Sandholme & Hawling Road in Market Weighton, a rural market town in the East Yorkshire Wolds just 20 miles southeast of York. The site is well connected and benefits from the proximity of cities such as Leeds, Doncaster and Hull. The M62 motorway provides excellent transport links to the West, and further afield via the M1 and M18.

     

    Currently arable farmland, the site forms part of a wider residential allocation under the reference ‘MW - C’. It covers an area of approximately 17.06 acres.

    To the north, east and west of site there is existing residential development. Beyond the southern boundary, there is land allocated for future development and the A1079

    What's Proposed?

    The proposed development comprises 211 detached, semi-detached and terraced family homes of 2 to 4 bedrooms. This will include a variety of house types of 2 and 2.5 storeys, which reflect the existing properties in the local area.

    A new road network will take access from Sandholme in the west and via Hawling road in the east. Each access point will be independent and there will be no thoroughfare through the site. Currently, 80 units are to be served via Hawling Road and 131 units via Sandholme.

    Community Benefits

    The proposed development will deliver a range of benefits to new residents and the local community. The Section 106 agreement is expected to cover affordable housing and contributions towards education and off-site green space.

    News and Updates

    A full community consultation event took place on the 20th June at Market Weighton Community Hall.  All comments from the event will be submitted with the Full Planning Application.

     

    Two positive Pre-application meetings have also taken place with the local authority, and following amendments to the access for the scheme, the local authority support our proposals.
