    Taylor Wimpey has submitted a reserved matters planning application for 141 new three and four bedroom homes at Cale Lane, Wigan.  The proposed homes are a mix of mews, semi-detached and detached properties.  A copy of the application can be viewed here.

    The site is easily accessible from the local towns of Wigan, Westhoughton and Standish through the local, direct road network.

    New development in Wigan will contribute to meeting local and national need for new homes.  Development will also bring benefits to the community, including construction jobs, apprenticeships and increased economic activity in the local area.

    About the Site

    The site is the vacant Hovis factory off Cale Lane, Wigan. The site is within close proximity of the Leeds-Liverpool canal to the north, residential development to the east and west and playing fields to the south.

    This proposed development benefits from a number of transport links.  It's around a half an hour walk or a 10-minute drive to Wigan Wallgate, Wigan North Western or Hindley train station. Collectively, these stations have direct trains going to Manchester City Centre, Liverpool Lime Street, London Euston and Birmingham New Street.

    It is less than a 10 minute drive to the M61 which goes to Manchester and in the Liverpool direction, it is approximately a 15 minute drive to the M6 and M58.

    The site is easily accessible from the local towns of Wigan, Westhoughton and Standish through the local, direct road network.

    There are two bus stops along the site boundary, one on Cale Lane immediately outside the site entrance and one on Ash Lane.
