    Taylor Wimpey has acquired Parkers Farm. The site has the benefit of Outline Planning Permission for 320 new homes, a care home and a livery.

    We have recently submitted planning applications for our proposals for a new development of up to 320 homes on land off Rownhams Lane in Rownhams, Southampton.
    The existing outline planning permission includes the provision of land for a new 60 unit care home, a livery comprising of stables for up to 30 horses and menage, and significant areas of open space (1.4 hectares) in addition to a 12.2 hectare SANGS area.
    Under our proposals, 40% of the new homes will be provided as affordable housing.

    Our development is designed to work within the constraints and opportunities of the site and is a scheme that respects the area’s surroundings.

    Our proposals include the following key elements:

    • 320 high-quality new homes, split into four phases

    • Phase 1 - Infrastructure works comprising entrance road and SANGS land
    • Phase 2 - 160 new homes
    • Phase 3 - 140 new homes
    • Phase 4 - 20 new homes

    • A mix of property types and sizes to suit people in a range of circumstances

    • A provision of affordable housing (40%)

    • Significant areas of open space including play spaces, allotments, a new community orchard plus a SANGs area (open space for dog walking etc)

    • Vehicular access to be taken from Rownhams Lane, plus additional pedestrian/cycle accesses onto Rownhams Lane

    CEG, the company who obtained the Outline Planning Permission still own the land for the care facility and the Livery. Taylor Wimpey are looking to develop the new homes and the open spaces.

    Community Benefits

    We believe our proposal will carry wider benefits to the community of Rownhams beyond the provision of much-needed new homes.

    These benefits have been secured by way of a section 106 legal agreement and include financial contributions to be made for the benefit of the local community, including:

    • £960,000 towards highways and transport improvements
    • £269,000 of education contributions
    • £134,000 towards community facilities
    • £38,000 towards public art
    • £55,000 towards reducing impacts on the SPA areas surrounding the Solent
    • A travel plan (with incentives) to help encourage the reduction of vehicle movements of the new residents
    • An employment and skills plan to create opportunities for local employment, apprenticeships etc
  • Updates

    News 

    September 2018 - We are making some minor amendments to our plans (phases 2,3 & 4), and hope to receive planning permission shortly.

    July 2018 - Our 'Phase 1' infrastructure works application has received planning permission. The access into the new development is underway. 

    23 April 2018 - A presentation was given to the Parish Council highlighting the current proposals, and providing the Parish Council and attendees a chance to ask questions of the design team. The presentation can be seen here
