  • About the site

    About the site

The 19 acre site is the continuation of the redevelopment of land at Whalley Road, Barrow and offers an opportunity for a residential scheme designed around the existing natural assets of the site.

A full planning application was submitted to Ribble Valley Borough Council by Taylor Wimpey and Barratt for the development of 233 dwellings. Planning permission was approved for the site in August 2019.

The site provides the opportunity to deliver high quality housing to meet the local needs of the community and provide affordable housing, including bungalows. The development will also bring benefits to the community, including construction jobs, apprenticeships and increased economic activity in the local area.

The new development is ideally located for accessing jobs and services in Clitheroe, Blackburn, Preston and Manchester. It is well located on Whalley Road, which connects the site to Clitheroe and the A59 to the north, and Whalley to the south.

A good public transport service is also available with bus stops on Whalley Road providing access to Clitheroe, Whalley, Nelson and Burnley. Whalley railway station is approximately 1 mile to the south of the site and provides direct services to Clitheroe and Manchester.
