    Taylor Wimpey is consulting on a proposed planning application for the delivery of new high quality family homes and associated infrastructure in Wesham.

    A Public Consultation was held on Tuesday 13th June 2017 at Wesham Community Centre. Thank you to those who attended.

    We are reviewing your comments as they are received and we will ensure we consider the feedback within our planning application.

    We submitted our outline planning application on 3rd July 2017. We will be keeping the local community informed on the progress of the application as it evolves.

    About the Site

    The site is approximately 9 acres and is located to the north of Weeton Road, to the west of Wesham. It is currently used for agricultural purposes and is bordered by Weeton Road to the South and the A585 and Mill Farm leisure and retail development to the east. 

    The site lies in close proximity to Junction 3 of the M55 and provides great connections to the nearby Cities of Blackpool, Preston, Manchester and Liverpool. There are a wide range of existing community facilities and services located within close proximity to the site including:

    • Two Primary Schools located within 650m
    • Two Secondary Schools within 2.5km
    • A number of GP surgeries and dentists located within Kirkham & Wesham
    • Retail and leisure facilities at the adjacent Mill Farm development
    • Community facilities such as a library and local shops within the centres of Kirkham & Wesham
    • The larger centres of Blackpool and Preston are located within a 30 minute drive of the site, providing a broad and comprehensive range of retail, leisure and community facilities and services 

    The site is also well-located for access to existing public transport services. This includes:

    • Train - The nearest train station is Kirkham & Wesham station which is approximately 1.2km to the southeast of the site. This provides frequent and regular connections towards key destinations including Manchester, Blackpool, Preston and Bolton. Work is scheduled to electrify and improve this line.
    • Bus - The nearest bus stops are located adjacent to the site on the A585 which provide routes to Blackpool, Preston and Lytham St Annes
    • Cycling - National Cycling Routes 62 and 90 are located within the cycle catchment area and offer high quality routes within the sub-region

  • What's proposed

    What's Proposed

    We are proposing to develop a high quality residential development which respects the sites location on the edge of Wesham and seeks to create an attractive transition from the countryside to the town. We envisage that up to 190 dwellings could be accommodated on the site, alongside areas of landscaping and new public open space. The Illustrative masterplan shows how the site could be developed.     We believe the proposed scheme provides a number of positive opportunities including:

    • Up to 57 affordable homes
    • New pedestrian and cycling links to and from Wesham
    • High quality housing to meet identified local needs
    • A sensitive transition from the countryside into the town
    • New public open space for use by existing and new residents
    • The reinforcement of Kirkham and Wesham's key service centre status which the Local Plan states should be a focus for new development

     

    A community consultation took place on Tuesday 13th June 2017 in order that we could outline our proposals in further detail.

    Our outline planning application for up to 190 new homes at Weeton Road has been submitted today (3rd July 2017). The Council will be writing to local residents shortly with information on our proposals including how to make representations in support or in opposition.
