The Alders Phase 3

Taylor Wimpey is preparing a planning application for 253 new homes on land to the East and West of Rightup Lane, Wymondham, which will form part of the next phase of the well-established Birch Gate development.

This website provides you with information about every aspect of our proposals to date.

  • Overview

    Overview

Our proposals for 253 new homes will form one of three residential parcels on the northern part of the Birch Gate development that received outline planning permission in February 2014. The permission was for a development of up to 730 homes, a care home, retail/commercial units, and a primary school, together with green infrastructure, new access arrangements, sports pitches, allotments and a community orchard.

The outline planning permission established the principle of the residential development of the site. Taylor Wimpey is now preparing a reserved matters application which will provide details of the development’s layout, scale, appearance, landscaping and the materials we will use.

Our reserved Matters Application has now been submitted to South Norfolk Council and is due for determination in early summer 2021.

    About the site

    NEW Location Plan

This site is one of three residential parcels of a 41.8-hectare site which lies within the South Norfolk district on the southern side of Wymondham. The overall site is split into two by Right Up Lane and lies next to the A11, with good access to Norwich (9 miles to the north east) and Thetford (18 miles to the south west). Immediately to the north lies a conservation area and County Wildlife Site (CWS), known as The Lizard. Beyond this is the railway station with connections to Norwich and south east England.

The first of the three residential parcels has already received detailed planning permission for 153 homes and is currently under construction by Hopkins Homes. Immediately to the south is the already well-established Birch Gate development including Taylor Wimpey’s parcel known as The Alders which is still under construction.
