Land North of Aldborough Gate, Boroughbridge

Chapel Hill - Boroughbridge - North Yorkshire

Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire is proposing to submit a residential planning application for approximately 188 dwellings on land North of Aldborough Gate, Boroughbridge.

  • Overview

The key characteristics of the proposed scheme are:

    • Approximately 188 new dwellings incorporating a range of types and sizes to meet local needs.
    • Provision of affordable housing on site.
    • Areas of Public Open Space and a 'Green Walkway' to form part of the development.
    • Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) to be incorporated within the scheme.
    • Vehicular access proposed from The Ridings, with potential access also from Chapel Hill.
    • Pedestrian links to the wider network, including to The Chase.

A Public Consultation Event was held at Aldborough Village Hall on Tuesday 31st January 2017 between 3pm and 7pm.  Members of the Taylor Wimpey were present to discuss the proposals and we are still taking comments on these up to 21st February 2017 to help shape our planning application.

  • About the site

    About the Site

The land north of Aldborough Gate is being promoted by Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire and has been identified in the emerging Harrogate Local Plan as a draft preferred housing allocation.

The site is located on the southern part of Boroughbridge, approximately 1 mile from the town centre.  Wider transport connections are also excellent, with the site being located adjacent to the A1, providing direct links further north and south.

The site itself is currently used as agricultural land.  A residential estate is situated to the west of the site, with Boroughbridge High School to the north.  To the east and south are further agricultural fields with Chapel Hill running along the southern boundary.

  • What's proposed

    What's Proposed

Prior to the submission of the planning application, a masterplan has been created for the scheme which highlights some of the items that are being proposed within the scheme.

    • Approximately 188 new homes, ranging from one to five bedrooms.
    • Provision of Affordable Housing on site.
    • Areas of Public Open Space and the provision of a 'Green Walkway'.
    • Pedestrian connections to the south and west of the site, including to the The Chase.
    • Proposed vehicular access from The Ridings.  Potential vehicle access from Chapel Hill.
    • Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) to be incorporated within the scheme.
    • Retention of existing trees and hedges where possible.
    • New footpath to be provided within the site boundary adjacent to Chapel Hill.

As can be seen on the updated masterplan, we have now moved the layout forward and applied more detail to give people a better idea of roads patterns, the interaction of dwellings, access points and landscaping.  By applying this detail, the number of proposed houses at this stage has increased to approximately 188 from the original anticipated number of 174.

A Public Consultation Event was held at Aldborough Village Hall between 3pm and 7pm on the 31st January 2017. The information displayed at the event can be accessed via the links below.
