  • About the Site

The site is located on the western side of Harrogate. It is bordered on the south by Otley Road, Crag Lane to the west and Harlow Pines / existing residential properties to the east. Directly adjacent to the northern boundary of the site is Pinewoods with the Royal Horticultural Society Harlow Carr Garden further to the west. There is existing commercial use to the south of the site. Further to the east of the site is an extensive area of residential properties. The topography of the land falls from a high point on the east of the site to a low point on the north-western boundary.

The perimeter of the site is clearly defined, largely by existing trees / hedgerow along the boundaries, providing a buffer with adjacent uses.

    Site Context

The site is located in a very sustainable position within Harrogate, approximately 1.5 miles south-west from the town centre. Otley Road provides a direct link from the site to the A61 Leeds Road, with Leeds 15 miles to the south. The A1, providing excellent links further afield, is approximately 9 miles to the west of the site.

  • Community benefits

The development of the Harlow Grange site will not only provide a range of new housing that will contribute greatly towards Harrogate Borough Council's requirement, but will also facilitate the introduction of new local amenities and facilities, as well as the enhancement of existing ones, that could otherwise not be provided or sustained.

This project, that we are currently consulting you on, can provide a host of benefits to the local community, such as:

    • Emphasis will be put on employing local labour throughout the construction phase
    • The development will deliver a range of housing to meet the needs and aspirations of the whole community. There will be a mix of affordable units as well as properties designed to meet the needs of first time buyers, key workers, families and also an element of large executive style housing.
    • The project has a S.106 agreement which includes financial contributions towards; Education, Off site Highway Works (Otley Road), and Off site Cycle improvements which are necessary to accommodate the development.
