    Overview

    The former Rossington Colliery already has the benefit of Outline Planning Permission for a mixed use development (12/01107/OUTA); consisting of a local superstore, hotel, restaurant, fast food outlet, petrol station, community building, land for a new Primary school and up to 1200 residential units.

    Taylor Wimpey have acquired another parcel of land within this, and have now submitted a reserved matters planning application for 190 family homes. 

    What are reserved matters? 

    The Outline permission established the principle of re-developing the site for mixed use; the means of highway access; & a design code which provides a set of design rules and parameters which any design proposal must adhere to. 

    Taylor Wimpey is therefore required to submit details of the site layout, appearance, scale & landscaping for the development to Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council.

    About the site

    Rossington itself is a former mining village, surrounded by countryside. The brownfield site was formerly Rossington Colliery and Taylor Wimpey's parcel is 7.2 acres in size.

    The site is bound to the north and west by the River Torne, and will be accessed from New Rossington via West End Lane.

    The development of the former colliery site is facilitating the construction of the Finningley and Rossington Regeneration Relief (FARRR's) Road, which will link Rossington village to Junction 3 of the M18 and Robin Hood Airport.

    In terms of amenities, the market towns of Bawtry and Tickhill are around 6 miles away, with the larger town of Doncaster just 6.5 miles from the site. Doncaster benefits from a railway station, The Dome Leisure Complex, and Doncaster Racecourse; as well as a variety of restaurants and shops. Warren Golf Course is situated less than 3 miles from the site.

    What's proposed?

    Taylor Wimpey have now submitted a reserved matters application for 190 dwellings, consisting of 2, 3 & 4 bedroom homes in terrace, semi & detached format. The house types will be similar in style to those being currently built on our first phase. 

     

    The layout of the site and a design code were approved with Outline Planning; and our development fits into this overall masterplan.

    Community benefits

    The development of the Former Rossington Colliery is facilitating the construction of the Finningley and Rossington Regeneration Relief (FARRR's) Road, which is a new highway from Junction 3 of the M18 to Robin Hood Airport, with links into Rossington village.

    The scheme will generate employment and job creation over the 3 year build period.

    The development would increase spending in the local shops and services.
