    First Phase of Development at Kenton Bank Foot

    Taylor Wimpey North East have submitted a detailed planning application for the first phase of development at Kenton Bank Foot. The site is part of the Newcastle Growth Area and in line with the overall Masterplan which was approved in May 2016. The first phase comprises of 90 new homes ranging from 2 bed semi and terrace up to 4 bed detached. Based on the current timescale, we are expecting a decision on this planning application in August 2016.

    About This First Phase

    This is proposed to be the first phase of our new development at Kenton Bank Foot which forms part of the Newcastle Neighbourhood Growth Area. The Masterplan for the whole area was approved in May 2016. The first parcel of land is approximately 3.7Ha and is currently used as agricultural land. It is surrounded by hedgerows to the boundaries. The Western boundary is adjacent to a car park for Kingston Park Stadium. To the north of the site are open fields and Brunton Bridge Farmstead. To the west is an agricultural phase which is also part of the growth area development.

    Access to the site will be taken from Brunton Road and a number of highway improvements are included as part of the proposals.

  • What's proposed

    What Are We Proposing at This Site?

    The overall Masterplan for the Kenton Bank Foot Growth Area describes this phase as the Northern Gateway. It is generally denser than the other areas in the masterplan forming an urban edge to the existing residential development to the South of Brunton Road.

    Our design for this phase consists of 90 new 2, 3 and 4 bed homes. 14 of which are required to be affordable. Some homes will face on to Brunton Road, set back behind the existing hedgerow. Others will face out over sustainable drainage basin and landscaping along the Northern part of the site.

    A number of improvement measures are proposed in the area of part of the overall masterplan, including highways improvements, new footpath cycle ways and bus stops. A new footpath cycleway is proposed to link through this phase and the adjacent development phase to link onto Brunton Lane.
