    Land off Bremridge Close

    We have received resolution to grant planning permission for a new development of approximately 63 homes on land off Bremridge Close in Barford.

    The application site already benefits from being included in a draft allocation for residential development within Warwick District Council’s draft Local Plan.

    We have submitted a detailed planning application for our proposed development, which seeks to deal with issues such as property design, layout and landscaping.

    Under our proposals, 40% of the new homes will be provided as affordable housing, to be administered by a council-approved housing association for local people in housing need.

    In order to allow local residents and stakeholders the opportunity to find out more about our emerging proposals and provide us with their feedback, we held a public exhibition at The Glebe Hotel in Church Street, Barford, on Monday 11th July 2016, from 4pm to 7pm.

    The two-week public consultation period that immediately followed closed on Monday 25th July. The comments we received from local residents helped us to refine our plans before we finalised and submitted a planning application to Warwick District Council in March 2017.

    Following on from our well-attended public consultation event in July 2016, we did some further work to thoroughly test and examine the likely effects of the proposed development from a traffic point of view.     About the site

    The site lies to the north west of Bremridge Close and the south of Westham Lane, on the southern edge of the village of Barford, Warwickshire.

    The proposed site covers 4.87 acres (1.97 hectares) and is bordered by residential land to the north and east and the A429 Barford bypass to the south, as can be seen in the map below:

    Our development is designed to work within the constraints and opportunities of the site and is a scheme that respects the area’s surroundings.


    Our proposals include the following key elements:


    • Approximately 63 high-quality new homes

    • A mix of property types and sizes to suit people in a range of circumstances

    • One, two, three and four-bedroom homes

    • A provision of affordable housing (40%) for local people in housing need

    • Areas of public open space within the development, including a balancing pond

    • Vehicular access to be taken from Bremridge Close

    Community benefits

    We believe our proposals will carry wider benefits to the community of Barford beyond the provision of new homes. These benefits will include a number of significant financial contributions that will be made towards the local community as part of our proposed development, in agreement with the relevant local authorities.

    These will be in the form of a Section 106 Agreement, and further details of these contributions will be released once finalised with the council.
