Our proposals for Phase 2 of the Colliers Court development.

  • Overview

    The former agricultural field already has the benefit of Outline Planning Approval for residential development. This was attained in January 2014 which included the detailed approval of phase 1 of the development which is currently under build.

    The total approval equates to 450 dwellings but the proposed phase 2 has 110 properties proposed.

    Taylor Wimpey already owns the next phase of land for phase 2 and is currently in the process of a public consultation prior to preparing a Reserved Matters Application.

    What are Reserved Matters?

    The Outline Planning Permission established the principle of residential development and associated access.

    Taylor Wimpey is therefore required to submit details of the development's appearance, landscaping, layout and scale to Wakefield MDC.


  • The Local area

    The town of Featherstone offers all of the amenities required for daily life - with convenience stores, a supermarket, post office, chemist and more all within easy reach. The beautiful Purston Park is just a few minutes' walk away and is the perfect spot for all the family to enjoy.

    Young families will be pleased with the choice of schools in the town. As well as several Junior and Infant Schools there are also two secondary schools - The Featherstone Academy and St Wilfrid's Catholic High School.

  • Taylor Wimpey's proposals for the land

    The second phase of the Colliers Court development will consist of 110 dwellings and will be similar in style to those on the first phase of the development. A selection of 2, 3, and 4 bedroom homes in terrace, semi-detached and detached format are proposed, the majority of which will be 2 storey's, in addition to a number of 2.5 storey types.

    The new phase is attached to the existing phase and is served via the new junction off Pontefract Road, constructed at the development's inception.30% of the dwelling's will be affordable housing in accordance with Wakefield MDC's policy, the type and tenure are yet to be agreed with the council.

  • Taylor Wimpey in the community

    • 30% of the dwellings in phase 2 will be affordable housing to be agreed with Wakefield MDC.
    • £20,000 contribution towards bus stop improvements.
    • £5,000 to improve cycle parking at local schools and Featherstone Station.
    • £2,000 towards a walking bus set up scheme.
    • A travel plan to improve the use of public transport including a £150 travel voucher for each new occupier.
