Ambrose Road

Land off Ambrose Road - Swindon - Wiltshire

Taylor Wimpey is preparing proposals for a new residential development on land off Ambrose Road, Swindon.

Keep up to date

  • Land off Ambrose Road

We are currently preparing proposals for a new development of approximately 65 homes on land off Ambrose Road, Swindon.

We have an option to purchase the Ambrose Road site from the existing landowners, subject to planning permission being granted for our proposed residential development.

A public consultation for our proposed scheme was held at the Kings Hotel, in Swindon, in July 2011, giving local people the opportunity to find out more about what we are planning for the site and provide their feedback.

  • About the site

The proposed development site covers an area of 2.4 hectares and is greenfield land which is currently in agricultural use.

It is located on the eastern fringes of the new community of Wichelstowe, which is currently under construction.

The site is bordered by existing residential development off Ambrose Road to the east, while Croft Road runs along the south-eastern border. Wichelstowe Country Park lies to the west of the site and residential properties off Wyvern Close are to the north.

Our initial development proposals for the Ambrose Road site were developed following discussions with Swindon Borough Council.

Two options were initially considered for the site, and a low/medium density residential development has been put forward as the preferred option. The northern section of the site will remain undeveloped.

Key elements of our proposed development are as follows:

    • Approximately 65 homes
    • Access via Ambrose Road
    • Potential for new footpath/cyclepaths linking development with Wichelstowe Country Park
    • Design/layout to be determined
  • Development timeline
