    Land off Croft Road

    We are currently have resolution to grant for a new development of 62 homes at land off Croft Road, Swindon. We are now in the process of preparing for a reserved matters application which we are hoping to submit in mid/end of February.

    We have an option to purchase the Croft Road site from the existing landowners.

    We held a public exhibition on the reserved matters application on 23rd January 2018.

  • About the site

    About the Site

    The proposed development site covers an area of 1.7 hectares and is greenfield land which is currently in agricultural use.

    It is located on the eastern fringes of the new community of Wichelstowe, which is currently under construction.

    The site is bordered by existing residential development off Ambrose Road to the east, while Croft Road runs along the south-eastern border. Wichelstowe Country Park lies to the west of the site and residential properties off Wyvern Close are to the north.

    Our initial development proposals for the Croft Road site were developed following discussions with Swindon Borough Council. The layout was fixed at Outline Planning.

    Key elements of our proposed development are as follows:

    • 62 homes - 31% affordable
    • Vehicle access via Croft Road
    • Pedestrian/cycle access via Ambrose Road
    • The proposed development includes a mix of 2,3 and be bed houses.
    • Existing hedgerow to the North will be retained.
    • Areas of open space.

    Community Benefits

    The new development will bring much needed housing to the Swindon area. We are currently waiting on the signing of the S106. The S106 will bring in benefits to the local area.

    CIL (Community Infrastructure Levy) is applicable on the development which will bring extra financial benefits to the area.

    • 23rd January 2018 - Public Consultation to display Reserved Matters at Community Centre @ Christchurch, 31 Cricklade Street, Swindon, SN1 3HB.
    • Mid/end February - Reserved Matters Submission.
    • April/May - Reserved Matters approval.
    • July 2018 - Commencement of development.
    • March 2019 - First residents move in.
