Ratho Station

West Mains - off Hillwood Gardens - Ratho Station - City of Edinburgh - EH28 8PX

We have submitted proposals for a range of 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom detached and semi-detached homes on a development site that is approximately seven miles west of Edinburgh city centre.

We anticipate our site start will be late 2016/17 subject to all appropriate permissions being in place.

  • Overview

    We have submitted proposals for a new development of approximately 132 high-quality detached, semi-detached, and terraced homes on land adjacent to the Glasgow Road/A8, West Mains, Ratho Station.

    The site which we are proposing for our new development is outlined in red on the map pictured right.

    The site is allocated in Edinburgh’s Rural West Local Plan (adopted June 2011) for housing, and this allocation is carried forward into the second Edinburgh Local Development Plan (LDP2) as proposal HSG5. 

     

  • About the site

    Our proposed development is situated within a greenfield site, that lies to the eastern boundary of Ratho Station.  It is broadly level, and it is highly visible from the A8 Glasgow Road.  Main access into the proposed development  will be from the A8.  There is a woodland fringe along the main site frontage, and our plan is to retain this feature.

  • What's proposed?

    We are proposing to build 132 high-quality detached, semi-detached and terraced homes. 

    There will also be a provision of 25% affordable homes which are much-needed affordable in the local area.  

    Key features of the proposed development include:

    * A range of new homes and apartments to appeal to a wide range of buyers

    * 25% affordable homes

    * Retention of existing woodland on fringe of proposed development area

    * Connected footpaths and cycle routes

    * A development that's been designed using the 'Designing for Streets' principles'

    We have submitted our detailed application to The City of Edinburgh Council and we hope to receive a determination early in 2017.  We hope to start construction mid-2017.
