Set within an attractive landscape our development of new homes at Maidenhill is part of the wider M77 Corridor Strategic Development site in Newton Mearns to the south of Glasgow.  It forms part of a wider masterplan that will include affordable homes, as well as new community facilities including a new primary school.

  • Overview

Taylor Wimpey West Scotland and our development partner CALA Homes have secured detailed planning permission to create a development of 645 new homes at Maidenhill, Newton Mearns.  The area is zoned for residential development within the East Renfrewshire Local Development Plan. Our detailed application consists of 625 private homes for sale and 20 affordable homes.

Proposals to provide a further 189 affordable homes will be developed in the future by Registered Social Landlords and those areas of land will be subject to separate planning applications.  Similarly plans for the delivery of a new primary school and a Community Religious Facility as part of the wider masterplan vision will be part of future planning applications.

  • About the site

    About the site

Our Maidenhill development is part of the wider M77 Corridor Strategic Development site in Newton Mearns to the south of Glasgow.  It is divided into two separate sites that will be developed by Taylor Wimpey and our development partner CALA Homes. When complete, this part of the development will comprise approximately 834 homes.

This project has been in the pipeline for over thirty years, and it demonstrates our commitment to investing and creating new communities.  It forms part of a wider masterplan that will include around 1,100 residential homes - both private and affordable, a new two-stream non-denominational primary school that will include a nursery, MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) and other sports and play facilities.  The new primary school will be delivered by East Renfrewshire Council as part of the full site proposals and it is targeted for completion in August 2019.  There are also plans for a Community Religious Facility as part of the masterplan, as well as transport upgrades and other associated works.

Planning permission has been granted for a new slip road into the site from Glasgow Southern Orbital. This will be constructed as an early part of the new site infrastructure, and it will provide a key access to the five acre site that has been identified to deliver the new primary school that sits at the heart of the proposed Maidenhill development.

    Community Benefits

Community benefits will be confirmed as the planning process progresses.  Through continued dialogue with East Renfrewshire Council, we will agree the Section 75 Agreement that is required as a result of the development of this site.

We have shown our support for local community football in East Renfrewshire by supplying and sponsoring 16 sets of mini-football goals and nets for St Cadocs Youth Club who play locally across the East Renfrewshire area.

St Cadocs Youth Club was first established in 1987 by Mr David Jones for the children of St Cadocs Primary school to participate in football and netball. Now 25 years on the Club has grown beyond the boundaries of the school and includes players from all East Renfrewshire schools and beyond, forming a successful youth club.Team coach Willie Fraser said:  “We have in excess of 600 children across 12 different age groups, ranging from aged four, five and six at our mini kickers level all the way through to our under 19’s.

“Our aim is to give children within East Renfrewshire and the surrounding areas an opportunity to enjoy and develop their football and netball skills in a safe and secure environment, with the full support and backing of our club coaches.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have received this support from Taylor Wimpey West Scotland which will help us to improve the training experience for each of our children’s teams, and provide a very professional match-day set-up for visiting teams.”

Commenting on the sponsorship, Audrey Ross, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland said:  “We’re delighted to be supporting children’s community football in East Renfrewshire in this way, and we hope that our involvement will bring the club lots of luck in future matches.
