  • Overview

    As part of our continued commitment to community engagement, together with Hallam Land Management Ltd, we have hosted a public exhibition of our proposals for the development of land at Seafield Road in Bilston, Midlothian.
      
    The 8.6 hectare site is identified for housing in the Proposed Midlothian Local Development Plan, and the public exhibition was designed to encourage members of the public to share their views and give feedback before Taylor Wimpey and Hallam prepare a detailed planning application to Midlothian Council.

    Our proposed development area is outlined in the location photograph opposite.

  • About the site

    Along with Hallam Land Management, we control a 45 hectare (ha) area of land on the west/northwest fringe of Bilston in Midlothian.  This 8.6ha site is currently arable land and it forms part of this wider area.  Seafield Road forms the site's southern boundary and there are properties and planting to the eastern and western boundaries.  The northern boundary is defined by a hedgerow.

    The proposed development is within easy walking distance of the new Bilston Primary School, the local shops within Bilston itself.

    We are proposing a development of new homes that will consist of:

    *  around 180-200 new homes that will offer a range of house types that will reflect the neighbouring context

    *  a high-quality residential environment with a rich mix of open spaces

    *  a design that is sensitive to neighbouring properties

  • Community Benefits

    We will work alongside Midlothian Council to agree appropriate developer contributions to the wider community as plans for this development progress.

    The development will provide 25% of the new homes as affordable homes.

    We are finalising our development layout and completing our technical studies in order to make a detailed application to Midlothian Council later this year.
