    Taylor Wimpey are currently designing a scheme for 57 homes within the village of Newton, which is located 1.5 miles east of the seaside resort town of Porthcawl.

    About the Site

    This site is located in the centre of Newton, 1.5 miles east of Porthcawl and 0.5 miles north of Newton Beach. It has direct access to the A4106 which leads to the A48 - which in turn provides direct access to the M4 and the national motorway network both East and West. The site benefits from all the facilities available to the wider Porthcawl area, including a train station, several schools, a town centre with high street shops, supermarkets, restaurants and health facilities.

    What's Proposed

    The site lies within the settlement boundary of Newton and will consist of two access points. The main access point is off Birch Walk to the east and will serve up to 54 homes. A secondary access will be located off Church Street to the west, and will serve up to 3 homes. Taylor Wimpey are proposing circa 57 homes consisting of a mixture of 1 to 4 bedroom types.

    New footpath and cycle links will be provided through the centre of the site, in addition to the public right of way to the south beyond the site boundary.

    As per the Bridgend Spatial Planning Guidance, Taylor Wimpey are providing 30% affordable via a mixture of on and off site provision.

    Community Benefits

    As part of the Section 106, we will be providing the following:

    • Financial contribution of £75,450 to improve the off site LEAP facility
    • Financial contribution of £8,000 to fund a Road Traffic Order - 20mph zones and improve safety for the public
