An update from Taylor Wimpey

Byford lounge at Flying Fields

To all our new customers,

I wanted to take the opportunity to update you on the changes we are making to our business in Scotland to get back to work safely and to support you, our employees and our wider communities.

Following the latest Scottish Government guidance on 18 June 2020, removing the restriction on non-essential home moves and supporting the return of activities related to the sale and purchase of homes from Monday 29 June 2020, we will be taking a careful, steady and phased approach to reopening our sales offices and show homes on an appointment only basis.

While every customer is important to us, our initial focus is to support existing customers on the matters that relate to the purchase of their home that cannot be carried out remotely.  Please be assured that we are looking forward to hearing from you in the coming weeks on how we can help to get you on the move to a new home. Appointments are bookable now and available from 10.30am on Monday 29 June 2020.

Having conducted a detailed review of our sales processes and interactions in line with the latest Scottish Government guidance, we have developed a new set of protocols which include a fully revised set of working practices and staffing arrangements.  Please take a moment to view our video on how to visit us safely - www.taylorwimpey.co.uk/coronavirus/how-to-visit-us-safely.

I also welcome news of the Scottish Government’s extension of the Help to Buy (Scotland) scheme into March 2022, which provides a real boost for buyers considering their next move.  You can find out more about how the scheme works by visiting www.taylorwimpey.co.uk/ways-to-buy/help-to-buy/help-to-buy-scotland.

We have enhanced our digital and online capability to offer you more including a fully remote homebuying experience

During this crisis we have continued to sell homes to new customers and progress purchases. Taylor Wimpey remains very much ‘open for business’ through our website and by telephone, both of which are supported by our dedicated sales executives and regional teams.

Our website is updated daily and includes our latest availability of new homes, their pricing, the ability to download brochures and includes virtual tours of many of our show homes. You can also request a call back and make an appointment with an independent mortgage advisor and you can even reserve your new home remotely.

For those customers who are able, we encourage you to continue to reach us in this way. As well as suitably distanced face to face appointments in our sales centres, we continue to offer telephone and video appointments for registering your interest through to reservation and throughout the purchase process. Both our website and telephones are supported by our dedicated Sales Executives and regional teams who remain contactable and who are on hand to support you.

You can continue to contact our sales centres and regional businesses by telephone and through our website www.taylorwimpey.co.uk

During the time our sites and on-site sales centres have been closed, we have played our part in supporting our key workers and communities. On closure, our site teams distributed much needed PPE to local NHS and care homes, including vital supplies of protective gloves, masks and sanitising hand gel along with gifts from our staff of puzzles, CDs, crafts and toiletries to care homes in Scotland. We have also donated £5,000 to St. Vincent’s Hospice in Johnstone in direct response to help the hospice’s fundraising shortfall due to the current health emergency. Many of our employees have also stepped forward to volunteer for the NHS and support local communities and charities. This includes our employees and partners coming together and fundraising over £70k for NHS, Crisis and Childline through the Taylor Wimpey Isolation Charity Challenge.

Through our national care home project, we have distributed 120,000 surgical masks, 75,000 pairs of protective gloves and donations of toys and activities from our own staff to care homes across the country. We have also distributed 120,000 disposable aprons and are distributing over 800 reusable face shields which we have manufactured. The response from the care homes has been overwhelming and is a source of great pride to Taylor Wimpey and our employees.

Finally, thank you once again for your continued support and understanding, and for the trust you have placed in us. We won’t let you down.
Best regards
Pete Redfern
