What these changes mean for you.

The Help to Buy Equity Loan, which is currently available to first time buyers and home owners will end in March 2021.

A new Help to Buy scheme for first time buyers only in England will replace it on 1 April 2021. As with the current Help to Buy scheme, you could borrow up to 20% of the cost of a new build home (or 40% in London). The amount you can purchase a home for using the scheme will depend on where in England you are buying.

Home owners who wish to purchase using the current Help to Buy scheme could still be eligible if they complete the purchase process by March 2021.

Regional price caps

For homes completing after April 2021, the amount you can purchase a home for using Help to Buy in England will depend on the region you are buying in. Use this table to find out what your regional price cap is, or try our Property Price Cap finder.

Help to Buy 2021 Regional Price Caps

These changes only apply to purchases in England. Take a look at the Help to Buy Scotland or Help to Buy Wales for more details of regional variations.
