The Include Me 2 Club in Barrhead receives its first donation
As part of our ongoing commitment to working in partnership with local communities, at the launch of our Duncarnock development in Barrhead, we teamed up with Include Me 2 Club to donate £25 for each new home sold and legally completed within the first phase of new homes at the development.
The first tranche of £1,400 was donated to the charity this month, and in total, they will receive a grand sum of £3,625 as work at the development progresses. This donation is part of a long-term commitment between ourselves and the charity, and the money will go directly to supporting the work they provide locally in Barrhead.

We go back to school in Barrhead
Members from our Young Persons’ Forum returned to school this week with a visit to Barrhead High School and take part in their Career Fayre and mark the first rollout of our new secondary schools engagement pack. With the first secondary school visit under their belt, three primary schools working on our new resources, the YPF team in West Scotland is looking forward to continuing to push out the opportunity for schools to engage with Taylor Wimpey using the new school resources.
Fiona Johnston, Head Teacher at Barrhead High said: “Taylor Wimpey is a fantastic partner for our school community. The team are providing valuable learning opportunities, to support our young people to be ambitious and better prepared for the world of work. Taylor Wimpey delivered work insight sessions and promoted the construction industry at our Careers Fayre. Their input has helped our learners to connect with employers, consider employability skills, and to make informed choices about their future pathways.”

Local Queen’s Platinum Jubilee event in Barrhead receives a helping hand from us

World of housebuilding brought to life for students on a visit to Duncarnock in Barrhead
As part of our support for East Renfrewshire’s Developing the Young Workforce programme, and our commitment to the Scottish Government’s Young Persons’ Guarantee Scheme, we hosted a site visit at our Duncarnock development in Barrhead for 14 students aged 15/16 from Barrhead High School and neighbouring St Luke’s High School to get an insight into the housebuilding industry.
Our team also took the opportunity to highlight the choice of careers and various routes that are available for young people to get involved in this exciting industry sector. During their visit to the site in Barrhead the students had the opportunity to see the various stages of construction of a new home, visit the sales information centre and showhomes, as well as the chance to get valuable career advice from the team.
Local primary school receive a funding boost
As part of our ongoing commitment to working in partnership with local communities we have recently donated a £500 boost to Hillview Primary in Barrhead to support their plan to improve the school grounds.
Commenting on the support that it has received from Taylor Wimpey, Joanne Gardner, Teacher at Hillview Primary said: “We are extremely grateful for the support that we have received from Taylor Wimpey, and we can’t thank them enough for their generous donation. Our Pupil Council will ensure this money will be used to purchase new shrubs, plants and flowers for our new planters that have been installed at the front of the school, which in time will provide a bright and colourful welcome to visitors and pupils.”
Kids eco club designs bird boxes
Children at Hillview Primary School’s Eco Committee in Barrhead have been busy designing their own bird boxes as part of a sustainability challenge set by their local development in Barrhead to encourage more wildlife into private gardens. The children were invited to take part in a competition to paint their own bird box, and our local sustainability champion, Maya Calvert, chose her favourite three designs before the children all took their bird boxes home to install in their own gardens.
