Leading in environmental innovation and reducing construction waste

Taylor Wimpey East Scotland wins Gold at the 2026 Commonwealth Environment & CSR Awards.

The accolade recognises the business’s leadership in environmental innovation and its pioneering work to reduce construction waste through a collaborative project with Reconomy Connect.

The awards present a unique opportunity for any company in any country across the Commonwealth to earn global recognition for their environmental endeavours or their Corporate Social Responsibility commitments.  In a nod to the Glasgow’s role as the host of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, winners received specially commissioned medals in place of traditional trophies.  

Embedding sustainable behaviours

The award-winning project focuses on improving Waste Segregation, Waste Intensity Reduction, Container Utilisation & Circular Use of Construction Materials on construction sites and strengthening education through an accessible, video based toolbox talk. The project aligns people, processes and technology to reduce waste and embed sustainable behaviours across Taylor Wimpey’s operations.

With support from project partner Reconomy Connect, this pilot project has already delivered measurable improvements and is now being used as a blueprint for rollout across Taylor Wimpey’s 22 regional businesses throughout the UK.
